INTERVIEW
THE SORE THUMBS
by Christer Davidsson, May 2006

Hello there, whats up?

Miles: Ahh you know, keeping busy playing, driving alot, the usual.

Tell me a little bit about the band. Discography etc.

Well, we're a three piece band out of the San Fransisco's East Bay area that's been together for 5 years now. Let's see here...we've put out a self tittle full length album on our own, a 7" split with Hit By A Semi, our tracks from that split are being rereleased on a 45 on Noma Beach Records, a 7" box set comp on Pirates Press Records, a dogpile clothing/ no front teeth records comp, and our brand new full lenght album "Listen Up!" recently released on Radio Records.

If you would describe your sound, what would you say?

I would have to say street punk rock 'n' roll. Definetly a mix of old shit and new shit. We keep it pretty basic. We don't have a syphony behind us. Plug in and play you know.

What about lyrics? Where do you get the ideas for the lyrics?

The ideas come from everywhere. Whatever inspires. Something honest.

You're from the San Francisco area. Have you been influenced by the more well-known acts from that same area; One Man Army, The Forgotten and so on?

That's hard to say. There are many great bands from the bay that we love, but our influences stretch beyond that.

Your debutalbum Listen Up was released on valentines day this year by Radio Records. Tell me about that.

We recorded last summer and I think it took a total of five days or so. We took as much time as we possible could to make sure that we got what we wanted or at least close to it.

Have you been getting any good reviews of the album?

I not sure I haven't read or seen any reviews yet, but we're getting a really good response from people out there that pick it up.

The label is run by The Bodies, am I right?

You are correct. Famous for thier beer drenched shows and fog machines.

You started out in 2001. How has the band been recieved by the crowd?

We've played so many shows now in the last five years it's all kinda a blur to be honest. We've played some crazy fucking shows in really fucked up places, but we've met many people that truely enjoy and respect what we do, and played with some great bands too. We've made alot of great friends along the way.

I know you've been playing a lot of shows in your area. How has that been?

Sometimes it's hit or miss, but for the most part, local shows have been good. We've been gaining some momentum lately and see more and more familiar faces and some new people interested as well.

Are you hoping to come over to Europe for a tour?

That would be awsome! I hear that touring over there is great.
I don't know if we will be able to come over there anytime soon though.

What are you guys doing when youre not playing music?

You can find Joe riding his motorcycle around, Nick's usually doing yard work, and when I'm not sleeping, I'm usually playing more music somewhere.

What will you be up to in the near future? Releases, tours...?

We have shows booked I think for the next month or two around California. Past that I'm not sure. Hopefully we'll do some kinda west coast tour soon and get back in the studio as well.

Hope to hear more from The Sore Thumbs soon. Good luck with everything and thanks a lot!
Thank you!
