June/ July, 2007

Somehow all the reviews of this month got lost... I'm trying to put the page back together. Stay tuned...

Here's the review of Frontkick's "The Cause of the Rebel". It's the only one I got for now... Sorry!

FRONTKICK
"The Cause of the Rebel" LP/CD
People Like You Records

Frontkick is one of those bands that has truly evolved with each new record. I first heard this band about 6 years ago when they were still playing Oi!. That record was called "Berlin Rejects" and I thought it was an ok recording. Looking back to that record today and comparing it to this new 2007 album it's hard to believe it's even the same band. There's been some line-up changes during these past years, of course, but I don't think that's the only thing that has had an impact on the band. Frontkick has always done what they wanted to do. Learning from months on the road and hard work. These are hard working guys, picking it up a level with each and every release. I can't think of a lot of bands that has evloved this much, especially not to to better. "The Cause of the Rebel" sets a brand new standard for german punk rock, at least in my opinion. The songs are better, the production is better and last but not least the band is better. Well, even the artwork is better...
"Blue Tainted Blood", "Back For More" and "Bodybags" are my favorites, but the truth is that the whole record kicks ass. Stephan's still steady on the bass, the drumming and the guitars have reached new dimensions with new members Martin and Vovka. Oh, and don't even get me started on how good Marti Neurotic's voice is on this album... Get this record, there's no excuse not to...
