ADAM WEST
"Longshot Songs For Broke Players 2001-2004" CD/LP
People Like You

Take a little bit of Black Sabbath, mix it up with the Stooges, KISS and some 60's rock and you pretty much have the sound of Adam West. This is a compilation of non-album tracks recorded during the period of 2001-2004. There's a total of 24 songs on this disc and some of it is pretty good. I guess this is a must-have for the Adam West fans out there. I also think it could be a good way to get to know the band for people who haven't heard 'em before. Anyway, it's ok.

P. PAUL FENECH
"The F Word" CD/LP
People Like You

Meteors frontman P Paul Fenech's sixth solo record. Apparently this guy is the godfather of psychobilly. There's a few cool songs on here like "Poison Heart" and "Hangman's Daughter". This is the first time I hear a psychobilly singer with a british accent, which is cool. Get this one if you're into the whole psychobilly deal. If you're not, get something else.
To sum it up, not my kind of music but ok!

VARIOUS ARTISTS
"2006 Zero Youth Records Sampler" CD
Zero Youth

Here's a FREE! comp. from Zero Youth. All you have to do to get a hold of this one is to get in touch with the label and they'll send you a copy. That's cool. Bands on this comp are Brutally Frank, Nothing Left To Lose, The Overdogs, Dead City Shakers, Blame Gary, Media Dropout & The Adrenals.
Nothing Left To Lose is the band that stands out. I like 'em. They remind me of AFI when they were still good. Dead City Shakers and Brutally Frank plays psychobilly which a lot of people like. I'm not one of those people. Since it's free, this record is cool but I wouldn't buy any of these artists records. /CD

THE HEART ATTACKS
"Hellbound & Heartless" CD
Hellcat Records

Another one of these bands who says they're influenced by the Dead Boys and the New York Dolls. Seems like there's a big interest in this kind of rock'n'roll these days. This record is ok. These guys have written 11 songs of their own and recorded cover of "Travelin' Band" by Creedence Clearwater Revival. Joan Jett sings some additional vocals on "Tearstained Letters". Lars Frederiksen produced it this album which tend to be really boring at times. If you're up for some rock'n'roll I suggest you check out The Johns instead. I won't be listening to this one anytime soon... /CD

FLOGGING MOLLY
"Whiskey On A Sunday" CD/DVD
Side One Dummy

Here's a good one! The CD's got 9 old songs on it and 1 new. The new one is called "Laura" and is great, classic Flogging Molly! Then there's acoustic versions of "Drunken Lullabies", "The Wanderlust" and two more. Slowing it down a bit have given these already great songs another dimension and feeling. I think this was a really cool thing to do. There are also 5 live-songs on here. "The Likes of You Again", "Swagger" and "Within A Mile of Home" are my favorites. Flogging Molly is a live-band, no doubt about that!

The DVD is great to. Members of the band and people around them talk about the music, the band, touring and everything else you'd expect to hear in a music-documentary. With it's great live-footage, interesting interviews and good editing this film is very good! /CD

DEADONES USA
"There is No Vacation" CD
No Front Teeth Records

Old-school hardcore/ skate-punk from Washington. This is a great record!!! Released a year or two ago by London's NFT. I love songs like "Third World USA", "Saturday Night Suicide" and "Spitting Out Your Teeth". Get it if you're old school enough! /CD
ANTI-SOCIAL
"Sampler 2006" Demo CD
Self Released

Anti Social from Los Angeles started out back in '86. They have been doing shows with bands like Union 13, Vandals & MDC and I'd say that they fit in pretty good musically among those bands. This three-track demo is really good, I don't know what the songs are called but they're good and it's punk. I'd like to hear a bit more screaming from the band's singer though. At times the vocals tend to be a bit "soft". Over-all - good stuff! Looking forward to hear the album! /CD
CIVET
"Massacre" CD
Disaster Records

First album from all-female band Civet out of Long Beach, CA. Basically "Massacre" is a record filled with in-your-face punk rock songs. Titles like "Murder 944", "Handgun & Cocaine" and "Bleed & Burn" pretty much sums up what this record is all about. I like the first three tracks a lot and over-all this record is good. The only thing I'm not to crazy about is the tempo-changes in a few songs that feels kind of unnecessary. The songs would have been better without those. Otherwise this album is pretty good. I suggest you check 'em out if you like snotty-I-don't-care-punk-rock. /CD
THE HOLLOWPOINTS
"The Black Spot" CD
Disaster Records

Hardcore, punk rock, call it whatever you want, The Hollowpoints are all about energy. "The Black Spot" is a fantastic debut album from this Seattle-trio. Produced and released by Duane Peters (U.S. Bombs, Die Hunns).
The good mix of different types of songs makes this album very interesting all the way through. Not only is it filled with fast 3-chord punk tunes but there are also a couple of folksongs on here which is fun (gives me a bit of a Pogues-feeling). Opening track "Never Say Die", rock'n'rollish "Charcoal Tears" and folk tune "Sleaze of Seven Seas" are easily my favorite songs. All together this albums has fantastic songs on it, it's all very well-played and singer Matty has a great voice. Oh, and the artwork is really cool! Check out the Hollowpoints today!!! /CD
DIE HUNNS
"You Rot Me" CD/LP
People Like You / Sailor's Grave

This has been one of my favorite bands ever since they released their classic debut album "Unite" back in 2000. Even though the line-up of this band has changed a lot over the years the records have always been brilliant. When I first heard "You Rot Me" I was surprised to say the least. This doesn't sound like the good 'ol Hunns at all! But after playing it through a couple of times I really like it.
This time the punk rock has taken a step back and more of a complex rock'n'roll sound has taken over. Even though there are some really good punk rock songs on this album like "Mad Society", "Jorge" and "Rock N Roll Boulevard" the over all sound is a lot different from before. One of the main things is probably that Corey Parks is doing a lot of the vocals. Die Hunns are really mixing it up on this one. Influences from rock'n'roll, r'n'b and all kinds of punk from the '60s and up until now has truly made this album different. It's well produced and it sounds like the band has really taken the time to work the song through before putting it all down on tape.
"Tickets To Heaven" (2001) is still my favorite from this band and it always will be. But don't get me wrong, "You Rot Me" is a great rock'n'roll record! It's just not your average Hunns album.
Go get it today and check out the "new" Hunns! It rocks! /CD
ROGER MIRET & THE DISASTERS
"My Riot" CD
People Like You / Sailor's Grave

Street Rock record of the year! Agnostic Front singer Roger Miret is back with his third album together with his Disasters. There are a few really fast tunes "Fuck You" & "TV News", an acoustic track "Everything I Do", some classic street punk'n'roll like "Warning! Warning!" and "Pride".
"Janie & Johnny" reminds me of The Clash and "Roots Rock'n'roll" makes me think of Rancid. There's a bit of everything on here and Miret knows how to play it all! I love this album and I think it's the best Disasters album to date.
-"Let me take you by the hand, back to the streets of New York City!". This record rules! /CD
The Warblinkers
"Dezerters Will Be Shot" Demo CD
Self-Released

This band from Finland has been together for one and a half years and have already released 3 demos and 1 promo-ep. This is the first time that I hear the band and their music sometimes remind of old No Use For A Name. At times there's a bit to much Hard Rock 'n' Roll for me, but the band is really tight and they're good at what they do. "Overdrive" and "Confused Too" are good songs and I'd like to hear some more stuff from this band in the future. They have potential! /CD

VARIOUS ARTISTS
"The Kamikaze Broadcast Vol. 1 & 2" CD
No Front Teeth Records

Now here's a fine collection of great punk rock! NFT has managed to put together a great mix of both known acts and lesser-known bands. There's 30(!) songs on each CD and kicking it off on vol.1 are The Nazi Dogs from Aachen, Germany with their tune "Suicide Kings". Good way to start the comp.!
Outstanding tunes are ska-song "Kamikaze Waves" by The Capitol Targets, "The Truth" by Die Hunns, "What Are You Doing Now?" by The Aggrivation and "Devil May Care" by Gumbabies. This record is packed with so many interesting bands and I haven't even heard half of 'em before. My favorites are female-fronted Retching Red with their song "Bullshit Repellent". Punk needs more female-fronted bands like this! Fast and angry stuff.

Volume 2 has a few more bands on it that I've heard before. What about The Hudson Drags, Mad Sin, Brain Failure, Angel City Outcasts and Kings of Nuthin'? I was really happy to see that Shock Nagasaki is also on this record and "Palisades & Renegades" is the best song I've heard from this band yet and everyone needs to check out Shock Nagasaki!
Other great songs are "The Kids Are Coming" by Hynkels, "Self Medicated" by Killing California, "Nobody Likes You" by The Reekys, "Fuck The Cool Kids" by Becks Street Boys and "Ex Pistol" by Serial Kreepers.
It's all good. This compilation is a great introduction to a lot of bands that I didn't know existed. All put together in true D.I.Y style by the guys at NFT Records. Buy it! /CD
MISS 45
"S/T" MCD
No Talent Records

Miss 45 from Sweden plays rock'n'roll. Boring rock'n'roll. The lyrics and songs such as "High Heeled Bitches" and "(Everything's More Fun) When You're High" doesn't impress me at all and neither does the music. Boring stuff... "Don't Wanna Be Like That" sounds like swedish chart-pop and those "Beach Boys-sounding" whooo-whooo back-up's (in every song!) sounds terrible. Not my kind of rock'n'roll... /CD
DEADLINE
"Take A Good Look" CD/LP
People Like You

New 14-track album from Deadline. The thing I was most impressed by with this album is the great mix of punk, rock, rock'n'roll, hardcore and pop.
With great melodies and female vocals Deadline really stands out. Listening to this record makes me happy! "Round The Corner", "Give it Back" and the hardcore tune "I Won't Give" are my favorite songs and I recommend this record to all kinds of punks out there. This record will be out in November so keep yor ears open! /CD
BLACKLIST BRIGADE
"Slit-Nose Hymns" CD
No Front Teeth Records

The first thing that came to my mind when I heard this band was that they remind me of Berlin's Radio Dead Ones and that's a very good thing! This is raw, no-bullshit old school punk rock.
With a lot of energy and attitude Blacklist Brigade have recorded a total of 20 tracks for this record and it's all good. My absolute favorites are "Hand Made Keys", "Mexico Dogs" and "Firesharks". There are also a couple of accordion(!) songs and a few acoustics on this album which brings an original touch to the band's sound. This is punk rock - D.I.Y.-style!! Be on the lookout for Blacklist Brigade! /CD
ENTROPY
"Gross National Product" 7"
Bad Idea Music

Now here's a kick ass record! Los Angeles' Entropy is the first band to release a 7" on Bad Idea Music and it's a fantastic debut for the label. Entropy themselves have been playing punk rock for more than 20 years and beleive it or not, this is their debut to!
Recorded at the famous Adamos' (Stitches, U.S. Bombs) this record has three great songs on it. Title-track "Gross National Product" is a down-tempo punk tune which is complemented by two fast tracks on the b-side; "You Deserve to Live" and "Who Says I Should?". It's funny I've never heard of such a good band. This is old-school L.A. punk rock and I love it!
This is a 3-track 7" and it's limited to 500. It comes in a custom silk-screened cover. The records are hand-numbered and the first hundred comes on colored vinyl! Hurry up, 'cuz these ones will go fast!!! /CD
VARIOUS ARTISTS
"Dance Hall Troops Volume.1" CD
No Front Teeth Records / Dog Pile Clothing

Here's an older compilation from No Front Teeth. The biggest difference from the "Kamikaze Broadcast" comps is that this record has a lot more bands that I'd heard of before. Opening track - The Sleazies' "I'm Gonna Operate On Myself" is an instant classic with lyrics like -"I can't afford no hospital bills, I don't need no second opinion, I'm gonna operate on myself, I don't need nobody's help!".
Followed by a great song by The Scuffs, even better songs by The Ends and District this record starts off really well.
Die Hunns' "Dead Man" and "Headlines" by Radio One keeps it interesting and "That's The Difference" by Smogtown is one of this comps' finest moments. Broken Bottles' classic "Pink Swastika" is another one of my favorites. A fast tune by Union 13 called "Traces" adds a hardcore touch to the comp which is cool. Curb Slappys sums it all up with "Headline News". Great Comp with some of the best bands around!!! /CD
THE BREAKDOWNS
"Murder" CD
Self Released

Poppy punkrockers The Breakdowns from L.A. are pretty good. This self-released album has 15 songs on it and I like most of the songs.
With an exception of the fast tune "Mother F**ker" this record have a mid-tempo punk rock sound to it. My favorites are "Sex and Murder" (slightly reminds me of Social Distortion) and reggae-flavoured "Desert Storm" (Great tune!). This is over-all a good punk record with good, somtimes political, lyrics. The sound get's a little boring at times though. I'd love to hear more from these guys in a year or so.
Basically I like the sound but I think they need a few fast songs to mix it up with. This band is really good but they could be so much better! /CD
2nd DISTRICT
"Emotional Suicide" CD/LP
People Like You

This band has a great singer! At times I can't hear if it's a guy or a girl who's singing though, but I love it! As you know this band consist of members of The District and The Revolvers and this is the band's debut album. Opening song "19th Soldier" has been reviewed by Mutiny Zine before when I reviewed the band's 7" a few months ago. I liked it back then and I like it now. A good mix of classic 77-style punk rock and poppy glam-rock. They really get the two styles to match perfectly together. There are 12 great songs on this album and the peaks are "High Society", "Opportunist", "Young & Disorderly" and "Yeah, Yeah, Yeah". Germany has so many good bands coming forward right now. This is one of the best of 'em! /CD
